Original Manuscripts of Al-Mawahib al-Rabbaniyyah: 'Lost' for Nearly 400 Years


This book contains the answers of Sheikh ibn 'Allan to ten questions posed by the 4th Sultan of Banten, Abu al-Mafakhir Abdul Qadir (d.1651). Syekh ibn 'Allan, a Hijaz scholar who was born in Mecca in 996 H. He is known as a fiqh expert from the Shafi'i school of thought. Sultan Abu al-Mafakhir Mahmud Abdul Qadir was the king of the Sultanate of Banten, who ruled from 1595 to 1651. Among the questions of Sultan Abu al-Mafakhir were, namely:

1.    Replies and prohibitions for rulers who violate God's law

2.    How must justice be upheld by the authorities

3.    A just position in a kingdom

4.    The way the authorities do justice without violating boundaries

5.    Limits of a ruler in giving and taking something
